If you try to order cannabis, research chemicals (aka designer drugs), tobacco, vaping products, red mercury, nembutal or any other drug which might be illegal or require a prescription online you will not receive it. Gangs of Internet scammers which originated in West Africa, but are now worldwide will simply take your money and deliver nothing. These scammers operate the many scam websites offering these items. The websites all have several similar characteristics:

1. The domain (aka the website) has been registered very recently, in some cases only months ago. Read Identifying Scam Websites to learn how to tell what date a website was registered.

2. These items may be legal where you are, however, in many other countries where they may originate or where they are shipped through, they are not legal or are restricted.

3. The scammers have local (U.S. or European) telephone numbers but they are not actually in those locations. They use VOIP (voice over IP) telephone numbers so they can receive and make telephone calls from their computers or smart phones, which can be located anywhere in the world. All they need is internet access. Some of them use mobile cell phones. Again, they can be anywhere.

4. They insist on advance payment via insecure and irreversible method such as Western Union, MoneyGram, T/T bank transfer, ITune (or other gift cards), Bitcoin, Reah Money Transfer, etc. These payment methods are anonymous and cannot be reversed. So when you don’t get your products, there is nothing you can do. Read Never Wire Money to Strangers. Moreover, since the legality of these items is questionable, the scammer feels the victim is less likely to report the scam.

5. They insist that you “buy” a minimum of product so that they can steal as much money as possible. In reality they have nothing but a website and a lack of morals.

6. They are not satisfied with just stealing the money you paid. They will claim that the shipment is being held up in customs etc. and that you need to pay more money for unexpected duties or extra expenses. If you are foolish enough to pay these fees they will come up with another fake fee. If you don’t, then they will blame you for not receiving your order. They may even threaten to have you arrested if you don’t pay.

Just because a website does not fit into any of the categories above does not mean its real. Scammers are very resourceful and have ways of making their scam websites appear more legitimate.
